Glamping in Abruzzo: A Night Under the Stars at Cirelli Farm

September, 12th 2022 -Updated on March, 19th 2026

Some places stop you in your tracks the moment you arrive. Cirelli Farm is one of them.

We had heard about glamping before visiting Abruzzo. The concept had been around in the UK for years, glamorous camping, nature without sacrificing comfort. But nothing quite prepared us for what we found on a warm June afternoon in the hills of Teramo province.

Green in every direction. Vineyards as far as you could see. The kind of stillness that cities make you forget exists.

What Is Glamping?

Glamping, short for glamorous camping, combines the idea of immersing yourself in nature with the comfort of a properly equipped space. No tent pegs, no sleeping bags on hard ground. Just you, the outdoors, and everything you need to feel genuinely at ease.

It is, in many ways, the perfect format for Abruzzo. A region with extraordinary natural beauty, clean air, and landscapes that deserve to be slept in rather than just driven through.

Cirelli Farm: Where the Glamping Happens

Cirelli Farm Glamping is an initiative by the Francesco Cirelli Agricultural Farm and Vineyard, located in Treciminieri in the province of Teramo. The farm sits in the heart of the Abruzzo countryside, surrounded by vineyards and rolling green hills, approximately 50 minutes from Pescara Airport by car. There is no public transport and honestly, the drive in is part of the experience.

The last 10 minutes of the route are a little adventurous. Stay in touch with the team beforehand and they will guide you through. It is absolutely worth it.

The glamping consists of two wooden cabins, one for up to 3 people and one for up to 4, built directly in front of the vineyards. When you arrive and walk through the vines to reach your cabin, you understand immediately what makes this place special.

Our Visit: An Invitation from Serena

We were invited by Serena, one of the people behind the Cirelli Farm project, and spent a June afternoon exploring the farm, the wine cellar and the glamping cabins.

The first thing that struck us was the silence. And the green. In every direction, wherever you looked, there were vineyards and hills and nothing else. The Adriatic Sea is not far away, but from here you feel entirely in the interior of Abruzzo, wrapped in the countryside. June is a beautiful time to visit, the vines are full and intensely green, the air is warm and clean in a way that is genuinely difficult to describe.

Serena welcomed us with warmth and showed us everything. What became immediately clear was the level of care and attention that has gone into every detail of this project. Nothing feels improvised. Everything has been thought through with love.

The Wine Cellar and the Amphoras

The highlight of the tour, for us, was the wine cellar.

Cirelli Farm produces its wines in terracotta amphoras, large ceramic vessels that connect the winemaking tradition directly to ancient Greek and Roman methods. Wine aged in clay adds nothing external, no oak, no tannin from the barrel. What you taste is purely the grape, the soil and the year. It is one of the most honest expressions of winemaking that exists.

We tasted three wines: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano and Pecorino. The Montepulciano was extraordinary, deep, rich and with a character that felt completely tied to this specific piece of land. Paired with an informal selection of local cured meats that Serena had prepared, it was one of those spontaneous moments that end up being the ones you remember most.

Serena, it turned out, also speaks some Spanish, which made the whole afternoon feel even more like a conversation between friends rather than a tour.

The Cabins: What to Expect

The two wooden cabins at Cirelli Farm are fully equipped for a genuinely comfortable stay. Each includes:

  • A double bed with linen and towels
  • A fully equipped bathroom
  • A coffee bar with coffee machine and kettle
  • A fridge stocked with products from the farm, including wine and jam
  • A mezzanine with a single bed
  • A private terrace with table, chairs and sun lounger
  • Air conditioning and heating depending on the season
  • Breakfast served directly to your cabin every morning

There is no WiFi. This is deliberate. The idea is that you disconnect from everything and simply be here, in this landscape, with these vines and this air and this wine.

Why Cirelli Farm Glamping Is Worth It

Glamping at Cirelli Farm is not just a place to sleep. It is a complete experience: waking up surrounded by vineyards, drinking wine produced metres from where you sleep, breathing air that feels genuinely clean, and experiencing Abruzzo in a way that no hotel in a city centre can offer.

It is also, despite its luxurious nature, one of the most authentic experiences in the region. You are not a tourist here. You are a guest of a family farm that has been producing wine in Abruzzo for generations.

We recommend booking well in advance. The space is intimate and there are only two cabins, which is precisely what makes it special, but also means availability is limited.
