Eating out during COVID-19: Baramares Restaurant experience!

August 24, 2020

Our latest posts were a mix of graphic content (pictures to show you how beautiful Abruzzo is) and trending topics (our experience travelling from London to Pescara during the pandemic of the Covid-19).

This time we want to share our experience dining in a restaurant and show you how things changed due to this “new reality” we are going through at the moment. We wanted to celebrate our mom’s birthday in an Abruzzese style… and that means eating hard!

Why choose a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine

The restaurant’s name is Baramares, located in Francavilla al Mare right next to the beach. They mainly offer pizza and fish. We made the reservation here because we knew the restaurant has an open space, which is quite good considering the times we are currently going through. They also have an extensive parking area which by the way is absolutely free.

If you want to know in details what they serve, you can check the menu on their website but also check it by scanning the QR code on the table. If you have an iPhone it’s pretty easy, you just need to point your phone’s camera towards the QR code and a website link will pop up on your screen!

The staff was gentle and kind at all times. We speak Italian so, we didn’t have problems to communicate but we don’t really know if they speak any other language (English for example). In any case, we are sure a smile and Google Translator will fix this very easily…warm Abruzzese people will welcome you doesn’t matter if you speak the language or not!

What we ordered and how much we spent

In order for you to have a better idea about what we ate and how much we spent, check the picture below:

The food was delicious! We were impressed about how affordable the wine is (just 2,50€) and the espresso (only 1,00€). We were also charged a total of 8,00€ for the table service and if we do some math, each one of us paid 22,50€. Not bad at all, considering we ordered two starters, four pizzas, one beer, a glass of wine, desserts and coffee. The Italian dream!

Covid - 19 measures

As we stated at the beginning of the post we made the reservation in Baramares because we knew in advance they had an open space and this definitely makes us feel more comfortable.

However, people were also dining indoors. The place wasn’t empty neither too crowded and there was also a reasonable distance between the tables, and not less important, all members of staff were wearing facemasks at all times!

The rules to follow to prevent Covid-19 are located in several places within the restaurant:

1.- Keep at all time a minimum social distance of one metre.

2.- It’s compulsory to wear a facemask if you are indoors, (you can remove it only when you are eating).

3.- When using the restrooms, it’s compulsory to wear the facemask and make use of the hand sanitizer placed right at the entrance.

4.- The use of the cloakroom wardrobe is forbidden.

As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will find the hand sanitazer and the rules you will need to follow.

Our night went really well, we never felt unsafe, the open space of course helps! So we can suggest you to always look for open spaces when possible. People on the restaurant overall were respectful of the rules which for sure helps to enjoy the experience even more.

If you come to Abruzzo and if you are in Francavilla al Mare or the surroundings, Baramares is a really good option to have a relaxed dinner. Beautiful place, awesome quality food and affordable prices.
