VILLAGES IN CHIETI
VILLAGES IN CHIETI
Chieti doesn’t get the spotlight — and that’s exactly why it delivers. Tucked between the Adriatic coast and the foothills of the Majella, Chieti is where Abruzzo feels raw, authentic, and beautifully untouched. Here, some of the region’s most captivating villages unfold quietly: Guardiagrele, known for its artisan traditions and mountain views; Rocca San Giovanni, perched above the Costa dei Trabocchi with sweeping sea views; Casoli, dominated by its historic castle; and Pretoro, a small mountain gem that feels frozen in time.
But the real magic doesn’t stop there. Beyond these standout names, there are many other villages across the province that are just as worth visiting — quieter, less known, and often overlooked, yet full of character, local life, and that unfiltered Abruzzo charm that makes this region so compelling.
WHERE IS CHIETI?
Set in southern Abruzzo, the province of Chieti stretches from the Adriatic coastline to the foothills of the Majella National Park, offering one of the most diverse landscapes in the region. To the east, it meets the Adriatic Sea along the famous Costa dei Trabocchi, while inland it rises into mountains, forests, and traditional hilltop villages — perfectly positioned between sea and wilderness.
