VILLAGES IN TERAMO
VILLAGES IN TERAMO
Teramo doesn’t shout for attention — it earns it quietly. Tucked between the Adriatic coast and the dramatic peaks of the Gran Sasso, the province of Teramo is home to some of Abruzzo’s most striking and authentic villages. Places like Castelli, famous for its centuries-old ceramics tradition; Pietracamela, a mountain village that feels almost untouched; Civitella del Tronto, dominated by one of Italy’s largest fortresses; and Campli, rich in history and local culture.
But like much of Abruzzo, the real beauty of Teramo goes beyond the obvious. Scattered across the province are other villages just as worth visiting — quieter, less known, yet full of character, tradition, and that raw, unfiltered charm that defines this part of Italy.
WHERE IS TERAMO?
Located in northern Abruzzo, the province of Teramo stretches from the Adriatic coastline to the high peaks of the Gran Sasso, offering one of the most diverse landscapes in the region. To the east, it meets the Adriatic Sea with long sandy beaches, while inland it rises into rugged mountains, forests, and traditional hilltop villages — perfectly positioned between sea and wilderness.
